The Reason You're Here
Name: Brian J. Reuhl
Occupation: Student
College: Illinois State University, Normal, IL
Major: Integrated Marketing Communications
I created this website to set myself apart from other college graduates. We are all trained to create the best resume possible, and hand it out to companies. I believe that my resume is simply a snapshot of my true talents and capabilities as an individual. This website expands on my resume, and gives an in depth look at my personal talents, reading, job experience, and college experience.
Why should we hire you is a question that all recruiters ask students throughout the hiring process. My answer is simple and effective; I possess a work ethic that sets me apart from all of my peers. I believe these qualities delineated from my experiences as an athlete, and a leader. All of my coaches and mentors through the years have taught me to be the best. I strive to be group leaders in academics, as well as other organizations I am involved in. Others turn to me when they seek information, and I am often the group leader who communicates information relevant to the task at hand.
This website serves as a deeper look into the person I am, and how I intend to continue my education for the rest of my life in the field of marketing. I understand what I have done is simply a platform for what I am capable of achieving for the rest of my life.
I would like to thank you for looking further into my qualifications, because I understand that time is one of the most valuable and important resources that we have.

"History will see advertising as one of the real evil things of our time. It is stimulating people constantly to want things, want this, want that." ~Malcolm Muggeridge
Want -
1.to feel a need or a desire for
2.to wish, need, crave, demand, or desire
3.to be without or be deficient in
4.to fall short by (a specified amount)
5.to require or need
6.to feel inclined; wish
7.to be deficient by the absence of some part or thing
Today it seems like the current market strategy for most companies is to make consumers "want" things. Consumers either want this, or they want that. If marketers are currently trying to induce wants they need to take a look at the laundry list of problems they are causing for people. If your product causes someone to feel a want for it, its making them feel deficient without it. Why are we still trying these techniques that make consumers feel inadequate?
Customer Relationship Management allows companies to build relationships with consumers and attract them to the product for the right reasons. Products should solve problems within the consumers life. For instance, when you purchase a new cell phone you should feel like your life is easier, not more complicated. In fact, if a consumer doesn't fit your product, and it doesn't benefit them, it is going to cause you headaches down the line. This is where most companies endure the dreaded customer complaints.
We are spending too much time trying to force products onto the consumer, instead of just listening to what they are saying. Consumers are dealing with more and more advertisements every single day. So how do you break through the clutter? Become their friend... and try actually caring about them. We create products to help people in this world, not so they feel deficient without them. Often times I see commercials for products on T.V. and I don't see any features of the product, who produces it, why i should buy it, or any statistics to support the fact that it is worth purchasing. Consumers are becoming more informed then ever, so give them what they want ; information.
No more inducing want... give consumers the information they need in order to make a decision that is best for them. If you have the right product, at the right price the rest will happen on its own.
Great Quality, Great Product, Great word of mouth

My Visit to the Caterpillar plant in Peoria, Illinois
Visiting the plant in Peoria showed me how quality, efficiency, and inventory management can allow a company to adapt in a time of economic uncertainty.
